The Wheel of Pride

Thoughtful conversation, meaningful reflection, and genuine human connection

To launch Disability Pride Month, Community Living Campaign (CLC) hosted Wheel of Pride—a creative, life-sized adaptation of the classic Wheel of Life game designed to spark meaningful conversations and strengthen participants’ sense of connection, purpose, and belonging.

CLC empowers older adults and people with disabilities by elevating their voices, celebrating their talents, and fostering leadership through community-building, advocacy, and empowerment programs. The Wheel of Pride held at the San Francisco Public Library brought together community members for an inspiring afternoon of storytelling and dialogue. Peter DeHaas, SFDBA Founder and Executive Director, was honored to serve as emcee and moderator.

An exceptional panel of speakers shared personal experiences and reflections across many dimensions of disability, exploring themes such as independence, self-determination, resilience, identity, and belonging. Their stories reminded us that disability is an integral part of the human experience and that inclusive communities are built by listening to diverse voices, embracing different perspectives, and creating opportunities for everyone to participate fully
